camp gone to the dogs
You loved summer camp as a kid. You like taking vacations with other dog people.
Between three-and-a-half and six hours by car, depending on which camp you attend.
Best to ask the camp.
The chance to learn new tricks. Depending on which one-week session you chose (there are three), your dog will learn to herd, hunt, play Frisbee, obey commands, swim or perform tricks.
The chance to bond with your dog through training. Workshops where you can learn the arts of canine massage, grooming and Tellington Touch. Lectures on raw diets for dogs, alternative animal cancer treatments, and canine behavior problems. As well, there are guided nature walks and doggie costume parties.
Sparse. At Summer Camp in Marlboro, VT, you and your dog share dorm rooms or cabins with other campers. (If you need privacy and air conditioning, you can opt for one of the area's dog-friendly motels.) At Fall Camp in Stowe, VT, you get your own room (with a/c and a balcony) at Vermont's Mountaineer Inn.
Rugged clothes. A swimsuit. Dog-towels are advised.
The only place dogs aren't allowed is in the dining room.
Between $750 and $1,100 a week.
