| The original Chelsea dog run, at West 22nd Street and 11th Avenue, was closed when construction of the new Chelsea Waterside Park began. A new dog run located in a triangle bordered by 11th Avenue, 24th Street and the West Side Highway opened in October 2000 after much wrangling by the West Chelsea Dog Owners Association. "Our Dog Park represents the first time a dog play area has been designed into a city park from the outset," reads the Association's website at www.bitsworld.com/dogrun. With its rock formations and fallen tree bridge, this run is unique in New York City. |
