Hernandez's portraits are witty and warm; you can't help but sense the affection she has for her subjects. Her saturated color photos reveal an eye for quirky juxtapositions (dogs against retro flowered bedspreads, pink-and-aqua wallpaper, and over-stuffed bookcases). Trained in fine art portraiture, Hernandez prides herself on carefully considering composition, style, lighting, and her subject's personality in each work.
