| Medium: |

Photography: primarily black-and-white, but also color |
| Style: |
|
The dogs in Levin's portraits look intensely focused. Somehow, by getting her subjects to pay such close attention to the camera, Levin seems to capture their essence. Her pictures are funny and touching, and often endearing. Levin shoots both inside and outside. Her black-and-white images, shot on film rather than digitally, have a particular richness and subtlety of tone. |

Levin's first book of photography, Why We Love Dogs (Andrews McMeel, 1998), has spawned a cottage industry: she now has greeting cards, coffee mugs, journals, and a calendar sold through her website and other stores. Her other books include Pawfiles (Andrews McMeel, 2006) and Hound for the Holidays (Andrews McMeel, 2006). |
