My dog stayed at Doggie Diva/Personal Pet Care by Alice over the Thanksgiving holiday, was bitten by another dog and was not taken to the vet by the kennel staff who then lied about the nature of his bloody wound. My dog had previously stayed at cageless kennels many times over the years and had always done well in the large play groups, so I was not terribly concerned. When Doggie Diva dropped my dog off I asked how he did, the staff member said he was "perfect" and left; when I removed his leader I found a bleeding hole just under his eye. They finally took my call and explained that my dog had been "humped" by a group of dogs on Wednesday morning and the behavior continued until one "clawed" him near the eye at which point she cut the other dog's claw. I explained to the woman on the phone that this never happened before at his other cageless kennel in the city; instead of trying to explain why she could not properly control the animals in her care, she became defensive and said that her competitors us

She then spent the bulk of the conversation explaining why she did not get medical attention for my dog's bloody wound- this woman is supposedly a vet tech- and she tried to convince me that my dog did not need vet attention but merely peroxide cleansing. When I took my dog to the vet the next morning, I found out why Doggie Diva’s staff was so insistent that he not see the vet-- my dog was not clawed as they had reported, he had been bitten- the vet described it as a deep wound which required a vet's cleaning and a course of antibiotics. I understand that in any situation where there is a large group of dogs, a bite may occur, what is unacceptable is the fact that Doggie Diva did not seek medical treatment for my dog for two days, ducked my phone calls, lied about the nature of the wound and attempted to keep me from taking him to the vet seemingly so I would not realize what exactly took place at the facility. These tactics are inhumane.
Re:Re:Warning- Doggie Diva- Personalized Pet Care by Alice DO NOT EVER USE ALICE'S SERVICES. We boarded our beloved dog there, and they LOST HER within 5 minutes of our dropping her off. There is no supervision, she has only untrained kids working, there is no double gate, it is simply a disaster waiting to happen. They didn't notify us for 9 hours. We found her after 5 1/2 days on the streets of the Bronx. It was a miracle that we found our dog, and only because we refused to give up. STAY AWAY FROM THE DOGGIE DIVA.
Re:Warning- Doggie Diva- Personalized Pet Care by Alice I am so sorry about what happened to your dog. When there are too many dogs in one place it can become dangerous. I only leave my dog in places with just a few...less than 8 is the best I think.

Re:Warning- Doggie Diva- Personalized Pet Care by Alice There is another MOST AMAZING Alice--not the Alice you are posting about here, at www.nydogdaycare.com. IT's the only place I'll leave my dog--cageless kennel. My dog sleeps in bed with Alice and her hubby when she is there!
