Dear urbanhounders,
It's been almost five years since we launched urbanhound.com. Started (and maintained) on a shoestring, urbanhound set out to be the definitive survival guide for New York City dogs and their humans. It's still that today--and it's still run on a shoestring.
But recently, as urbanhound's traffic has taken off, we've noticed a trend: more and more of our visitors live in cities other than New York. So we've decided to make it official: urbanhound is going tri-coastal. Next month we're launching sister sites in Chicago and San Francisco.
So, please spread the word to your dog-loving friends in those cities. Within the next day or two, they can sign up at urbanhound.com and we'll let them know the minute their local edition goes live.
Speaking of our roots, Michael Nastasi, whose elegant photographs of dogs have graced urbanhound.com since the beginning, has published a terrific new book for dog lovers. It's called Never Bark When A Growl Will Do and it's for sale everywhere.
With best chilly spring wishes to you and your hounds,
Nina Munk & Nadia Zonis

» Is your dog chubby? Obesity is on the rise among dogs, just as it is among people. Urbanhound.com's veterinarian, Dr. Betsy Brevitz, has some specific instructions on how to get and keep your dog's weight down.
» Warm weather, and flea season, are around the corner. Is using a spot-on like Frontline TopSpot the only option? And are there any effective alternatives to chemical pesticides? In two separate pieces on urbanhound.com, Dr. Brevitz first examines whether spot-ons are necessary to prevent fleas and ticks and then offers natural alternatives.
» Now that the weather is getting better, you may be desperate for an escape from the city. Check out our favorite dog-friendly getaways and, for help on how to get away, be sure to also read our guide to hound-friendly transportation in the five boroughs and beyond. |
